Thyroid diseases are amongst the commonest endocrine disorders worldwide. India too is no exception. The prevalence of Hypothyroidism in developed countries is about 4%-5%, whereas in India, it is reported to be around 10.95%. As per the epidemiological study conducted in eight cities of India, the prevalence of subclinical Hypothyroidism (SCH), a mild thyroid failure, was found to be 8.02%. The prevalence of SCH ranges between 4% and 15% worldwide and is reported to be 11.4% for women and 6.2% for men in India.Homoeopathy is a system where in the indicated medicines while relieving the patient their symptoms brings the general improvement of the patient as a whole and also decreases the susceptibility of the patient to disease. Thus an attempt has been made to study the effectiveness of Homoeopathic Medicines in the treatment of Hypothyroidism and also to minimize the complications associated with the chronicity of disease.
