Selection of next-generation insecticides for the for the effective control of rice stem borer is the main targeted theme of this book. The book highlights the research findings conducted by the author aiming to gear up the typical management protocol of rice stem borer. The new insecticide Chlorantraniliprole 0.4%G was found highly effective to reduce stem borer infestation in rice. Efficacy of four other insecticides were in order of Methoxyfenozide 24%SC Dinotefuran 20%SG Carbufuran 5G Quinalphos 25EC. The insecticide Chlorantraniliprole 0.4%G had least toxicity and Quinalphos 25EC was highly toxic to natural enemies in rice ecosystem. Considering the efficacy against stem borer and harmful effect to natural enemies, it is suggested to prefer the insecticide Chlorantraniliprole 0.4%G to other insecticides in controlling the pest. The insecticides Methoxyfenozide 24%SC and Dinotefuran 20%SG could also be advised to manage rice stem borer for better efficacy against the pest and cost effectiveness.
