The environment is being destroyed by the hand of man. Brazil's past destruction of forests by burning has contributed directly to global warming, and several species of animals and plants may become extinct. The consequences of environmental damage are present in people's lives and are no longer confined to the limits of certain countries or regions. People are starting to become aware, governments are acting and trying to create stricter legislation with a more present inspection, active in combating ecological crimes. Brazil is no stranger to these international concerns and currently has one of the most advanced legislations on the planet. However, given the various social and cultural problems, the state apparatus becomes insignificant to contain the abuse against nature. In addition to all this, there are large companies, which are the biggest polluters of the environment. Divergent theme in the doctrine is the possibility of accountability in the criminal sphere of the legal person. Such a situation demands a deep study. The present work will analyse the criminal liability of the legal person, emphasising the applicable criminal sanctions.
