Being permanently busy has become a badge of honor and prestige. We want to say and show the world that we are busy, but at the same time we feel exhausted. This contradiction is very harmful to our physical and mental health, so we need to start taking rest seriously as a method of self-care, and this book can help us discover how to do it. "The Art of Rest" is based on groundbreaking research in which the author, Claudia Hammond, collaborated. The Rest Test, the largest global survey on rest ever conducted, was completed by 18,000 people in 135 different countries. Much has been written about sleep, but rest is a different and much broader concept, referring to how we relax, how we calm our minds and how we recharge our bodies. This study revealed that the amount of time we rest is directly related to our sense of well-being. Through a countdown of the ten activities that people find most relaxing, Hammond explains why rest is so important and, based on scientific evidence, offers a roadmap to a new, calmer and more balanced life.
