Licenciado en Filosofía y Letras y Doctor en Historia Medieval ha sido profesor agregado de bachillerato y profesor Tutor de la UNED. de Historia Medieval. Fue director del Museo Municipal de Algeciras. Académico de Número de la Academia Andaluza de la Historia, Miembro Numerario de la Sociedad Española de Estudios Árabes, Miembro Numerario de la Asociación Española de Arqueología Medieval, Miembro Numerario del Instituto de Estudios Campogibraltareños.
