The book examines how the aged and their subsequent generation (children) perceive ageing. It also tries to understand the situation of the aged in the context of status, role and decision-making. Further, expectation of elderly from their children, society and from the government is also analyzed. As age advances it is challenging for the elderly to get adjusted with both, society as well as family. Health has also been an important issue in the old age, physical and mental health need to be studied for their better life. The book is a modified version of Dr. Bansod's Ph.D. thesis from International Institute for Population Sciences, India based on empirical data collected from 600 elderly in rural Maharashtra. This volume, undoubtedly, will be a useful guide to students, researchers and policy makers in India and across the world.
