After the attacks on the World Trade Center in 11 September 2001 (9//11), the international community led by the United States decided to overthrow the Taliban regime and stabilize Afghanistan through democratization. Election in this whole process played a key role. Ten years have passed and Afghanistan experienced two elections 2004 and 2009. While evaluating this process some factors will be taken into account. More plainly, how did external factors like illiteracy, poverty, and ethno-religious conflict influence the election process as a result of which the state building process worsened?
