This book is a must read for Political Science students, students in cognate disciplines and those interested in the electoral process in Nigeria. It explains the vital role played by election in leadership recruitment, especially in a democracy. It makes a comparative analysis between elective and appointive leadership in decision making process and good governance in a democratic setting and military administration. The book focuses on elections in the Nigeria's Fourth Republic, especially those that ushered in democracy and the one conducted by the sitting civilian government in 1999 and 2003, respectively. The book takes a panoramic view of election rigging and malpractices with appendixes of documents that scholars would find useful for further research in election management in Nigeria.
