Economic growth, like any complex phenomenon, is the result of many processes occurring simultaneously within a nation. Such is the complexity that a trained eye can easily overlook the important correlations and causes that in the future can potentially mean a positive or negative impact within a nation's economy. The present research studies a specific factor, which is the consumption of electricity, this is done by determining the causal relationship between economic growth and electricity consumption. Given the growing trend of technological development in Chile, it has been observed an increase in the country's dependence on electricity, and it may be the case that this latent increase in electricity consumption, which has allowed to boost the country's productive sectors, generating a growth in Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
