The history of Porsche begins electrically: in 1893 Ferdinand Porsche brought the future to his parents' house with a lighting system. In 1898, he designed his first electric vehicle with rear-wheel drive. His steerable wheel hub drive, which he presented in 1900 in a Lohner Porsche electric vehicle in Paris, was marketable. In the same year, he created the world's first functional hybrid vehicle. Under the heading "Intelligent Performance", Porsche took up the idea again in 2010. The new book from the Porsche Museum Edition spans the spectrum from early electric mobility with road and racing vehicles to modern hybrid concepts and the Taycan, the Porsche brand's first all-electric sports car.
