This book offers a comprehensive review of the latest advances in developing functional electrospun nanofibers for energy and environmental applications, which include fuel cells, lithium-ion batteries, solar cells, supercapacitors, energy storage materials, sensors, filtration materials, protective clothing, catalysis, structurally-colored fibers, oil spill cleanup, self-cleaning materials, adsorbents, and electromagnetic shielding.
This book is aimed at both newcomers and experienced researchers in the field of nanomaterials, especially those who are interested in addressing energy-related and environmental problems with the help of electrospun nanofibers.
Bin Ding, PhD, and Jianyong Yu, PhD, are both Professors at the College of Materials Science and Engineering, Donghua University, China.
Bin Ding is currently a Professor at Donghua University, China. He received his ME degree in Polymer Engineering from Chonbuk National University in South Korea in 2003 and his PhD degree from Keio University in Japan in 2005. He worked as a visiting scientist at Keio University (2005-2007) and the University of California at Davis (2007-2008). His primary research interests focus on functional nanofibers and their applications with regard to filtration, absorbents, self-cleaning materials, sensors, oil/water separation, heat insulation, battery separator and protective clothing. His main achievements include being chief editor of a Chinese book "Electrospinning and Nanofibers," 11 collaborative books in English, 98 peer-reviewed SCI journal papers, and 21 approved patents. He was also the guest editor of the journal "membranes" and an editorial board member of 4 international journals. The honors he has received include the award of the "Excellent Young Scientist Foundation of NSFC," the "New Century Excellent Talent" from the Ministry of Education, the "Shanghai Dawn Scholar" and the "Outstanding Book Award of China National Textile and Apparel Council." Jianyong Yu, Doctor of Engineering, Professor, PhD Supervisor, Principal of National Key Discipline-Textile Science and Engineering. He obtained his BS, ME and PhD in Textile Materials at the China Textile University (1981-1991) and served as a postdoctoral fellow in Organic Materials Engineering at Tokyo Institute of Technology (1997-1999). His research interests mainly include textile materials, textile processing technology, textile composite materials and nanofibrous materials. His main achievements include 3 edited books, 132 peer-reviewed SCI journal papers and 74 approved patents. He has won 16 scientific and technology awards, including the "China Textile Academic Big Award," the "Outstanding Contribution Award of National Scientific and Technology ResearchProject," and the "National Outstanding Scholar Award."
