Jim Green is an ecologist who merges with the spirit of the earth, Boulder, and can control all aspects of the earth element. Mellika Steele, a molecular biologist, merges with the spirit of metal, Metallika, and controls all aspects of the metal element. This along with her martial arts skills makes her nearly the perfect weapon. Burnadette Star, a fire fighter, merges with Blaze, the spirit of fire. This allows Burnadette to control the fire element. Thus they are now known as, "Element 5."
