Global positioning system (GPS) is actively employed in a variety of vehicular monitoring systems utilizing advanced technologies like Global System for Mobile communication (GSM), Geographical Information System (GIS), General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) and Radio frequency Identification (RFID). It is generally observed that passengers who use fixed transportation facility everyday have to wait for long time at their residence even though the timing is fixed. Due to reasons like traffic congestion as well as delay incurred due to other passengers, the reaching time of such vehicles at different users' location is not remaining fixed as per the defined schedule. Hence it is required that such transportation vehicles should be equipped with an intelligent system that can inform to each user in advance about the expected arrival time of the vehicle at user's residence. Such a system referred as Bus Information System can help the people avoiding waiting for longer at the entry gate of the societies where they live. Such a system helps in saving people's time waiting for the transportation vehicle.
