Iron deficiency anaemia (IDA) in pregnancy is a worldwide health problem with significant prevalence in developing countries. It causes morbidity and mortality to both mother and fetus. But the role of amloki in IDA is not yet established in our country. To evaluate the effect of oral supplementation of Emblica officinalis (amloki) on iron induced gastrointestinal symptoms, haematological parameters and iron status in pregnancy with iron deficiency anaemia. After analyzing the results of the study, it can be concluded that amloki supplementation along with iron can reduce the side effects of iron and improve the subjective complains of the iron deficient anemic pregnant women. Oral amloki can also improve haematological parameters and iron status in pregnant women with iron deficiency anaemia. Therefore, supplementation of oral amloki may be helpful to treat iron deficiency anaemia in pregnancy.
