"Emergency SalvageTM" is a term to describe heart surgeons' attempts to salvage patients who are actively dying from cardiovascular disease. Heart disease is the number one killer of Americans. Both nonfiction and fiction, this book describes author LSC M.D.'s struggles over a thirty-year period in caring for dying patients. It was written for readers who are only lightly educated about healthcare. Hopefully this book will give readers insight into the challenges of providing healthcare to actively dying patients in a world that is rapidly changing. The emotions of success, life, failure, and death are very vivid. About the Author L. Scott Cook received his M.D. from the University of Arkansas, his Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee, General Surgery training from the University of Oklahoma, and Thoracic Surgery from the University of Kansas. He has four children, Shane, Becca, Julius, and Daniel-and four dogs, Kit, Buddy, Junior, and Sadie. Jo Ella Cook is the supportive wife. LSC enjoys fly fishing and skiing in Idaho, and he is also a farmer who raises belted Galloway cattle.
