Flowers speak millions of unspoken words. No wonder they are there on almost every occasion. From birth to death in religious ceremonies, festivals, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, receptions, flowers are there to convey profound human feelings. A new demand driven trend for growing new cut flowers is increasing in the international market besides domestic front, often referred to as emerging cut flowers, which are less known and grown in small pockets, having high prospects in florist trade. A number of such cut flowers have been recognized and adapted to local conditions by a number of countries. Some of these cut flowers hold promise for the development of floriculture in Indian subcontinent are Lisianthus, Heliconia, Calla Lily, Salidago, Bird-of-Paradise and Ornamental Ginger.
