Emery Lloyd and his best friend Scooter have problems. They've both broken something important to them-Emery's lacrosse stick and Scooter's bike rim-but that isn't their biggest problem. Their parents have reduced the boys' allowances and refused to help repair the damage after listening to Mrs. Penny's speech sharing ways to make children more responsible. In fact, Mrs. Penny's presentation was making problems for everyone! Emery and Scooter have a plan, though. They'll pool their money in case another accident occurs. With the unexpected help of their math teacher Mr. Godfrey, the boys stumble into the world of insurance-protecting toys, backpacks, and sports equipment for the entire school. As with any new endeavor, however, issuing money to replace broken items doesn't come with out its challenges. How will Emery and Scooter manage the Insurance Club's money? How will they deal with bullies? And, oh yeah... They forgot about the science project!!! This is a story that teaches the fundamentals of insurance to middle grade readers in an entertaining, but informative, way by applying the concepts to a world they understand. Follow Emery and Scooter as they navigate the twists and turns of insuring an entire school's problems. You'll be surpised how far one small idea will take them!
