The aim of this study was to find out to what extent there is a connection between emotion regulation of negative emotions and social support or the use of social networks among adolescents. 106 adolescents aged between eleven and 20 years were interviewed for self-disclosure. There is a relationship between the emotion regulation strategies of distraction, reappraisal, controlled expression and empathic expression with social support. The relationship between increased use of social networks and uncontrolled expression as a strategy for regulating negative emotions could be confirmed. In conclusion, emotion regulation in adolescents plays a crucial role in adolescent psychopathology and social support and social networks should not be disregarded in this regard.
