Different people appreciate literature differently. In its simplest sense, literary appreciation refers to commenting on literature. In the present book, the results of a study regarding the relationship between Emotional Intelligence (EI) and literary appreciation have been presented. The study was conducted to see whether lack of an intelligence can predict appreciation of literature. The results of the correlational study have indicated that EI and several of its subscales correlated positively with literary appreciation and its subscales. The results of the correlational study were further confirmed with those of the regression analysis. However, the result of the t-test analysis demonstrated that the differences of the mean regarding the performance of males and females were not statistically significant. The present book is aimed at students and teachers of English literature as it can help them understand one of the reasons for appreciating literature differently. It can also help TEFL professionals as the obtained results have implications for the way language can be taught.
