It involves recognizing your feelings, understanding their cause, and controlling how you express them. Why Emotional Regulation is Important: People with good emotional regulation are more adaptable, calm, and capable of handling life's challenges without being overwhelmed. Those who struggle with emotional dysregulation may experience intense emotions like anger, anxiety, or sadness, which can affect their relationships, performance at work, and overall well-being. Emotional Dysregulation and Its Impact: When emotions run unchecked, they can lead to destructive behaviours, such as aggression, withdrawal, or even substance abuse. By developing emotional regulation, you gain the tools to pause, assess, and respond to emotions rather than reacting impulsively. This book will guide you through how BJJ can serve as a powerful tool for managing emotions, reducing stress, and developing mental resilience. I want to clarify that while I have over 20 years of experience teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to children, I am not a therapist or a specialist in child behaviour.
