Poetry is about exploring our feelings, about discovering the world and the thoughts of others, and most of all it is about connecting with others whether by a single line, a verse, or a poem. Long, short, shaped, rhyming, sad, serious, disciplined or expansive, free verse, or traditional, poetry grabs the heart and supports our existence. Emotions in Existence continues what Emotions in Eruption began, and Emotions in Evolution embraced. It is about consolidating freedom of expression through free verse, sonnets (one to Shakespeare himself thanking him for his interesting input to the English language) and the more disciplined Japanese forms including haiku, tanka and the haibun. It is about letting go of fear when it comes to our deepest emotions.

From Sydney, Australia Barbara Strickland grew up with the rich traditions of Italy. It has coloured much of her life from working as an English teacher overseas, indulging a passion for travel and languages, and her awesome cooking skills and coffee addiction. A lover of the culture and the music of her heritage she has combined this with her various careers. These include a stint in the Australian Army, a few years in Real Estate and obtaining her Bachelor of Education at the age of 40 to give her books what she hopes is a realistic, romantic and having grown up in Australia, a multi-cultural feel. When not at the computer she indulges herself with reading and blogging and loving her grandchildren. A cat with blue eyes is a dream along with room for herbs and spices and a well-behaved dog.
