The Author: Nikolai Stähler, born in 1977, studied economics from 1998 until 2003 at the University of Regensburg (Germany) and the Universidad de Cantabria, Santander (Spain). From 2003 until 2006 he worked as a research assistant at the University of Mainz (Germany) and was member of the research group 'Heterogeneous Labor' founded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). He is currently working at the Department of Economics (Public Finance Division) of the Deutsche Bundesbank.
