This book is a 'cautionary tale' for all women and girls over the age of 16 who may find themselves, quite innocently, on the wrong side of the law. This is the book I wish I'd read before my life was turned upside down and inside out. I had no idea how the British police can treat you as a woman, arresting you before even considering whether you are innocent or guilty. Being brutally made to strip and change clothing in front of four male officers; having my phone and computer taken from me (for five months); being released 17.5 hours later; in the middle of the night with no access to transport. This experience was one of the most horrifying and frightening things that ever happened to me. Followed by being utterly humiliated in the press coverage of the case, published suspiciously mere hours after I'd said 'Not Guilty' in a court room. Not to mention losing my job, accommodation, all my savings and pensions, my good name and reputation. Everything, gone. With this Manifesto, I am trying to ensure that no other woman in the UK ever has to go through this again, but if she does, to help prepare her for what may sadly happen. It is dedicated to providing women with the knowledge, resources, and support they need to navigate the complexities of the British police and court system. I am not a lawyer, but my mission is to empower women to assert their rights, seek justice, and overcome the challenges they may face within the legal system. I believe that every woman deserves a fair and just experience when interacting with law enforcement and the courts, and I am committed to facilitating this through information and guidance.
