GK has been filling up notebooks with her words as far as she remembers but it wasn't until she was working as a Marketing Coordinator in Manila, Philippines that she realized that she needed her words out in print. She briefly worked as an Editorial Assistant in one of the leading men's magazine in the Philippines before resetting her life and moving to Vancouver, Canada. As an immigrant of a non-native English speaking country and with little writing experience, finding full-time work at a local publication is unheard of but for GK, writing is breathing. She started writing on the side for a Filipino-Canadian magazine which gave way to other writing gigs. She wrote for various publications including Vancouver Weekly and SSG Music, a Seattle-based music publication and did album reviews before finally ticking off the most important thing on her life's to-do list: to write a book.
