Julia Álvarez is the author of How the García Girls Lost Their Accents, In the Time of Butterflies (a National Book Critics Circle Award finalist), and ¡Yo!. She has also published a collection of poems and a collection of essays. Julia Álvarez lives in vermont and the Dominican Republic, where she runs an organic coffee farm with her husband.
