Produktbeschreibung
Encephalic arteriovenous malformations ("pial AVMs") are rare diseases, but they affect a young population and can cause serious and definitive sequelae. This book includes a very up-to-date review of the literature on AVMs, including diagnosis and treatment options. Topics related to the study of the morphological aspects of the nido and their relationship to whether or not the arteriovenous malformation is cured after treatment with embolization followed by radiosurgery or only patients undergoing radiosurgery are emphasized and explored in depth. Scales for stratifying treatment risk are important, and we analyzed one of them to see how it correlated with treatment outcome. We found that a certain factor should be prioritized in the attempt to cure during embolization, in order to increase the effectiveness of radiosurgery. This book is aimed at health professionals who deal with AVM patients (neurosurgeons, nurses, radiologists, neurologists) and offers them a broad overview of the disease and therapeutic options.
