The Encylopedia of Jeet Kune Do is designed to serve as a resource guide, not only for the person training in JKD, but for any martial artist sincerely interested in enhancing his or her performance and achieving one's full potential. Many of the principles and training methods illustrated in one section or chapter of this book can and should be cross-referenced with motions or actions in another. The goal is for you, the reader, to use this book to improve your understanding and working knowledge of the art, science, and philosophy of unarmed combat known as Jeet Kune Do. Autorenporträt
In 1973, at age 17, Chris Kent became the youngest and final member admitted into Dan Inosanto's fabled "Backyard JKD" group. He studied with and assisted Inosanto for more than 13 years, mastering his skills and trav- eling extensively, both nationally and internationally, while serving as Dan's personal assistant for seminars and public exhibitions. In 1982, he was one of the first students to be awarded the prestigious title of Full Instructor in Jeet Kune Do. For more than 35 years, Chris Kent has been intimately involved in Jeet Kune Do and is recognized as one of the few people who has total compre- hension of the art and philosophy, including what is referred to as the "style-less style." As one of the preeminent torchbearers of the art around the world, he remains at the forefront of perpetuating Jeet Kune Do's art and philosophy, and is considered by many to be one of the most knowledgeable instructors in the world.
