Improved instruments and equipment have contributed to the quality of endodontic treatment. On the other hand, the complexity of the cases being treated is increasing. The goal of endodontic treatment is to provide optimal oral health, esthetics and function. Efforts should produce predictable treatment results which are easily maintainable and reliable over long term. Like other complex disciplines of dentistry, an endodontist may encounter unwanted situations during root canal therapy that can affect the prognosis of the tooth. These procedural accidents are collectively termed as Endodontic mishaps. With proper case selection and adherence to the basic principles of access preparation, cleaning, shaping, obturation and post preparation, we can overcome these procedural accidents. The purpose of this book is to present common mishaps and the treatment approaches for managing them.
