Autorenporträt
Taraprasad Das completed his postgraduate training in ophthalmology at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Pondicherry, and at Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai, India. He also received further subspecialty clinical training at University of Illinois Medical School, Wills Eye Hospital, Jefferson University, Philadelphia, and at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard University. Dr Das is currently Vice Chairman of the L V Prasad Eye Institute. He is Professor of Ophthalmology at the Sun Yet-Sen University, Guangzhou, China; and Adjunct Professor of Ophthalmology at University of Rochester Medical School, Rochester, NY, USA; and Fellow, National Academy of Medical Sciences, India. He has published around 200 papers, written 37 book chapters, and authored 8 books. He was editor of the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology from 1999 to 2004. He was conferred with the prestigious Padma Sri award by the President of India in 2013 for his distinguished achievements and services. His current leadership also includes Regional Chair, International Agency for Prevention of Blindness; and  President, Asia Pacific Vitreo Retinal Society.
