It is far better and easy if energy is used efficiently, "Energy saved is energy generated". The advancement of variable speed drive (VSD) technology possesses energy-efficient dynamic control. Doubly fed asynchronous motor (DFAM) based VSD fits for modern high and medium power applications like variable speed pumped storage plants, cooling, hoisting, traction, propulsion, etc., due to its effective controllability with partial rated power converters. In this book, energy conservation (EC) strategies are developed for DFAM driver by switching the stator winding with respect to load and speed variations. Likewise, the cost-effective EC strategies are developed without power converters for asynchronous motors serving in the low or mid-scale process industries. EC strategies are appropriate for motors with substantial load variation during their duty period, especially with a longer duration of part-load operation for improving the efficiency and power factor without any extensive modification. Developed EC strategies are analyzed with various power quality disturbances (PQD) and faults. Considering these PQD, proactive solutions are provided for uninterrupted operation.
