Autorenporträt
Dr. Douglas R. Carroll received his BS degree from Missouri State University in 1980 and his MS degree from Texas A&M University in 1982. He worked for the Air Force for six years at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma. He returned to academia and received his PhD from Missouri S&T in 1991 and has served as a faculty member at Missouri S&T since 1991. Dr. Carroll led the solar car project at Missouri S&T from 1992 to 2005, working with students designing, building and racing solar powered cars. The team won two national championships in 1999 and 2003. He published The Winning Solar Car in 2003, which is a design guide for solar powered cars. Dr. Carroll is an expert in energy efficient transportation and solar power. In 2008 Dr. Carroll became Director for the Cooperative Engineering program at Missouri S&T, which is a satellite program for the university. Dr. Carroll served as director for the program until 2023. He is currently a Professor in the mechanical engineering program.
