It starts from protecting the conceptual base related to sustainability; the territory of the province of Manabí and its energetic relations are characterized; the functionalities of geographic information systems are shown as an instrument for territorial planning; some alternatives associated with sustainable energy development are exposed from the local scheme; Some examples of energy management are shown in rural areas of Canton Chone and the parish of Colón, the latter belonging to the canton of Portoviejo; Some issues related to distributed generation, artificial intelligence and smart micro networks are addressed.
