Efstathios E. (Stathis) Michaelides, PhD, is currently the Tex Moncrief Chair of Engineering at Texas Christian University (TCU). He is recognized as a leading scholar in the areas of Multiphase Flows, Energy Conversion, and Thermodynamics. He has authored eight books; has published more than 180 journal papers; and contributed more than 250 scientific papers in national and international conferences. He is the editor of the Journal of Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics and in 2024 was awarded the ASME James Harry Potter Gold Medal "...in recognition of eminent achievement in the science of thermodynamics." He was also awarded an honorary M.A. degree from Oxford University (1983); the ASEE Centennial Award for Exceptional Contributions to the Profession of Engineering (1993); The Lee H. Johnson award for Teaching Excellence (1995); the Senior Fulbright Fellowship (1997); the ASME Freeman Scholar award (2002); the Outstanding Researcher award at Tulane University (2003); the ASME Outstanding Service award (2007); the ASME Fluids Engineering award (2014); the ASME-FED 90th Anniversary Medal; and the ASME Edwin F. Church Medal "...for the development of several noteworthy mechanical engineering programs" (2021).
