Ross J. Smith, writes his debut memoir about fatherhood from the calculated perspective of an engineer. In his self-deprecating, yet surprisingly poignant story about being a new dad, he battles his technical predispositions as he navigates the uncontrolled variables of life while his premature twins fight to survive in the NICU. Engineering a Father connects to a variety of reading audiences including: engineers and their reluctant loved ones who will recognize a humorous view of their quirkiness, veteran, new and future NICU families who understand or are bracing for the rollercoaster of emotions from a journey with preemies through the neonatology gauntlet, and a broader spectrum of parents who have endured a full season of child-raising and now see their kids leaving the nest. It's a rare glimpse into the vulnerable spaces inside an engineer's head and inside a father's heart.
