Cross-disciplinary approaches are finding increasing and significant applications in all research fields. Advances in engineering techniques and methodologies are proving immensely beneficial to biological and medical research community. Micro and nanoscale technology offers novel ways to precisely control cellular microenvironments and investigate cell behaviour in vitro. The book is intended to give exposure to this emerging research domain with highly untapped potential. A detailed description of two specific human-health related applications is given here (1) using topographically patterned substrates for tissue regeneration, and (2) using microfluidic devices for cell migration. The book lays a foundation of several principles and skills in engineering and life sciences that can be repeatedly employed to address a wide variety of research problems.
