The Authors: Ulrich Ammon is professor of German Linguistics with a focus on Sociolinguistics at the University in Duisburg. He has published numerous articles and books with sociolinguistic themes, e.g. «Ist Deutsch noch Internationale Wissenschaftssprache?» (1998).
Grant D. McConnell for the past 30 years has been professor and head of the International Research Program at the «Centre international de recherche en aménagement linguistique» at Laval University, Quebec City (Canada). His main focus is the measurement of language functions as language rating and their application to language maps.
