This book is mainly designed for students of business and economics who learn English as a foreign language and require it to accomplish both academic and occupational tasks. It can be also used as a reference for teachers and students in business oriented language professions. To bridge the gap between academic and occupational purposes, this teaching manual is adapted to fit the requirements of our learners; it is based on an eclectic approach to syllabus design. Thus, as for the content conceptualization, themes are sequenced from general to specific business topics. Each typical thematic unit of the course includes the following aspects: a starting up activity is used as a discussion to prepare learners for what they read followed by reading comprehension of reading materials, their associated vocabulary and language practise to consolidate their linguistic knowledge. Finally, a case study is used to practise business skills as well as their writing.
