English Language Learners Day by Day, K-6 grew out of Christina Celic's classroom experience as an ESL and bilingual teacher in New York and Illinois and as a staff developer in New York City, New York and Sao Paulo, Brazil. The more she worked with bilingual, ESL, and mainstream teachers in grades K - 6, the more she found she wasn't the only one grappling with the task of teaching language and the grade level curriculum. In writing this book Christina shares the specific teaching practices she has found successful with her English language learners. Christina holds an MA in Bilingual/Bicultural Education from Teachers College Columbia University.
