This study focused on the relevance of music technology to basic music teaching and learning. Ten junior secondary schools in Delta State were the focus of the study. The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of music technology to basic music teaching and learning; as it enhances general music education and as it can assist to achieve the set objectives of music education. It also featured some views and contributions of some scholars and musicologists on some concepts, theories, and empirical findings that are relevant to this study. The methodology used was a survey; the target population was made up of teachers and students located at five educational zones in Delta State. It was observed that all the students and teachers are not exposed to music technology. Some teachers were indifferent to the acquisition of computer/laptop and technology knowledge to enhance teaching. The students were overwhelmingly willing to be exposed to music technology. Summary, conclusions, and recommendations were made based on the findings in the course of this study.

Florence Nkechi Nmadu est docteur en philosophie de la pédagogie musicale. Elle a obtenu sa licence en musique, sa maîtrise en pédagogie musicale et son doctorat en pédagogie musicale à l'université Nnamdi Azikiwe, à Awka, dans l'État d'Anambara, au Nigeria. Elle travaille actuellement au Delta State Post Primary Education Board, à Asaba, et est saxophoniste et tromboniste.
