Six Sigma is considered to be an important quality improvement tool in the industry. Six Sigma methodologies involve implementing a strategy based on measurement and data collection focusing on improvement of process and defect reduction developed initially by Motorola in 1981. Six Sigma usage in health care is relatively new. The Clinical Laboratory lends itself well to adapt to Six Sigma methodology. This book illustrates our experience of successfully implementing a Six Sigma program in the Clinical Laboratory to decrease Turn Around Time Failures. Easy to implement practical data collection tools and strategies which can be easily adapted into electronic formats are presented.
