This book is based on a qualitative, classroom based action research that focused on how to improve ESL students' understanding of reading comprehension using 'Question-Answer-Relationships (QARs), and 'student-generated-questions' strategies. The use of these proven strategies enhanced the students' understanding of reading comprehension by improving their vocabulary and their thinking processes, making them active, confident and collaborative. These findings support research carried out by other researchers in the field of reading comprehension instruction in the English language.
