Dr. Eboni Wilson grew up in South Central Los Angeles working at the age of six by pumping gas to earn enough money to feed himself, as his crack addicted parents left him starving and homeless. Being a special education student and a juvenile delinquent, with a history of being kicked out of schools, Eboni knew he was headed for either jail or death. With an anger problem, he turned to sports to channel his energy and, with football as a tool to help him, Eboni made a change. He concentrated on school and with the help of his special education teachers and three mentors, six and half years after high school graduation, Eboni earned his doctorate in Education. Since earning his PhD, Dr. Wilson has focused his passion in helping youth and those others see as different. He has been fortunate enough to work with detention centers, mental health agencies and schools to improve services and resources for urban youth and juvenile delinquents walking down the path he once knew. Dr. Wilson currently resides in the Chicago area and enjoys traveling, working out and increasing his knowledge on how to continue to help urban students reach their goals.
