My name is Claudia Larrain. I was born into a family of Chilean immigrants. The only daughter in a family with two sons, I fought to break out the traditional roles for women and girls as servants. I fought for my one true love, ballet. My father was the biggest obstacle. My family had connections which allowed them to leave Chile when things became unbearable. My life in the US opened up a world of freedom, but became tainted by episodes of depression, anxiety attacks and emotional paralysis. I tried many forms of treatment with no solution. After obtaining a PHD in clinical psychology, I noticed a connection between creativity and healing. My art and meditation give me a natural way to raise myself from the depths of depression unlike any pharmaceutical. I wrote this book to raise awareness and provide resources for others to heal and break the cycle of emotional abuse which is often passed on through family legacy. This book is rich with stories of artists who use their creativity as an outlet for healing. They will help you learn you are not alone. Use the resources to understand how you can begin a life of emotional wellness through creative flow. I'm eager to share what I've learned. Come on this journey with me. Turn the pages and discover how your own creativity can be the best medicine for a path to wellness.
