The another method described in this book have potential for developing phytoplasma species-specific detection tools as author describes an efficient SCGS specific detection tools having 13% more efficiency than the present day universal detection system.The methodlogies presented in this book are very easily accesable to small laboratries and can be mimiced for other phytoplasma studies.

Dr.Prashant G. Kawar,Scientist,Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering at Vasantadada Sugar Institute, Pune. He has sequenced more that 60% SCGS phytoplasma genome and identified better and sensitive molecular markers for detection of SCGS and primarily responsible for identifying around 1200 ESTs associated with phytoplasma infection.
