Zinc (Zn) is one of the most important essential element for plants as well as human beings. In view of its widespread deficiency both in soil and human, an attempt has been made to enrich popular vegetable crop Spinach (Spinacea oleracea L.) with Zn, assess the impact of soil application of zinc on its uptake by leafy green vegetable and work out hazard quotient (HQ) to human health for consumption of this Zn-enriched vegetable. Zinc deficiency is responsible for many severe health complications, including impairment of physical growth, immune system and learning ability, combined with risk of infections, DNA damage and cancer development.
