This master thesis has the objective to give insight about the influence of prior knowledge and resources of entrepreneurs in the green automotive industry on the emergence process and performance of their ventures. The thesis proposes that entrepreneurs in the green automotive industry employ their prior knowledge and resources to start up and run their entrepreneurial ventures. With the aid of a literature study, desk research and a multiple case study the prior knowledge and resources of entrepreneurs in the green automotive industry have been researched. Based on the findings it can be argued that entrepreneurs in this industry employ their prior knowledge and resources to start up and run their venture. An educational background in a technical discipline is most probably valuable to the development of an LEV. Further entrepreneurial experience or work experience in an automotive or technical related company can also provide the correct prior knowledge and resources to start up an entrepreneurial venture in the green automotive industry. The findings additionally revealed that prior knowledge concerning IT may be useful to the green automotive industry as well.
