The success of small business sector is very important for the overall economic growth potential and future strength of an economy since they utilize local resources, satisfying vital needs of large segment of the population with their products and services, serve as spheres of technological, marketing and management capacity, and enable technological progress via adoption technologies. There has been more written about micro and small business growth in recent years than any other aspect of management. One of the main reasons is the contribution of expanding micro and small businesses to economic development and unemployment reduction, which, generally, has attracted the attention of researchers and policy makers in many countries. Since 1991, the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has recognized the promotion and development of small enterprises as important vehicles in addressing the challenges of unemployment, economic growth and equity. The author wrote this book with the purpose of understanding practice, challenges and prospects of entrepreneurial activities in selected micro and small scale enterprises of Sidama Regional state of Ethiopia.
