The only source of connectivity is through Chader route (frozen river) and a limited helicopter services provided by the state government to reach Leh / Kargil during winter months.Politically and economically marginalized, the People of Zanskar live a tough life. Mr Chhering Tandup is presently working as a Asstt. Professor in the faculty of Earth Sciences,Institute of Mountain Environment, Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu, India. A gold medalist in his masters, he completed his M.Phil from JNU, New Delhi. His research interest includes agriculture aspects of mountain area, human geography etc.
