The initial purpose of carrying out research in the mangrove swamp, in order to quantify the impacts that would be produced by the construction of a road, bifurcated to reflect on the behaviour of the users who entered this ecosystem to benefit from its richness. The comments made by young people visiting the site to the research team that entered the mangrove nine years ago showed a lack of ecological sensitivity. At that time, the mangrove was in a state of degradation. A reforestation plan was carried out and work was done with the children of a local school to teach them about the importance of the mangrove. Today, the same situation persists, an unhealthy mangrove swamp. Environmental Education talks have been held in the same school and the results have shown a better perception of the students about the importance of the mangrove, which demonstrates that the Environmental Education given has brought about changes in the way they discern the value of this ecosystem.
