In spite of the developing status of the environment, the formal study of environment has so for not received adequate attention in Indian academic performances. Recognizing this, the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India directed University Grants Commission (UGC) to introduce a basic course on environment for every student at undergraduate level for all courses and faculties in India. Accordingly the matter was considered by the UGC and a six months compulsory core module course in environmental studies was prepared and implemented in all faculties of the Universities/colleges in India from the academic year 2007-2008. Since the inception of this course throughout India, the objectives for which it was introduced was not evaluated. The attempt of this book was to evaluate this course on various aspects to assess the fulfillment of the objectives for which it was introduced. To identify the gaps, if any, in its implementation and suggestions to overcome them has been envisaged.
